Over 7 500 conscripts muster out from the Army

On Thursday, 15 June, 7,519 Army conscripts who began their military service in July 2016 or January 2017 will be discharged from service.

Of these conscripts returning to civilian life, 3,567 have served 347 days and are trained as conscript leaders or as soldiers who have gone through special training. The remaining 3,952 being mustered out have been trained in rank-and-file tasks and have served 165 days.

The majority of Army conscripts serve in the following brigade-level units: Pori Brigade, Kainuu Brigade and Karelia Brigade. Each of these three brigades alone has trained over 1,500 conscripts in the past year. Those being mustered out include 159 women who have completed voluntary military service.

The next contingent of conscripts will begin their military service on Monday 3 July 2017.
