17 Aug. - 15 Dec. 2026, call-ups in accordance with the Conscription Act will be organised by the Defence Forces regional offices. This year, male citizens born in 2008 will be summoned. In addition to call-ups, the Defence Forces is involved in organising a Call-up Information Day pilot 17-year old students in secondary education in August - September in Espoo, Iisalmi and Jyväskylä.

Recruits who started their service in the Lapland Jaeger Battalion and the Rovaniemi Air Defence Battalion swear the military oath or give the military affirmation in Keminmaa on Saturday, 8 August. The ceremony is held on the Keminmaa School Campus and sports field.

The SERE Instructor Course, to be held on 15-28 August 2026, has participants from Finland, Estonia, Italy, Hungary, Switzerland, and the UK.

Kosovo Force (KFOR) is a UN-mandated multinational NATO-led crisis management operation. Finnish peacekeepers have served in the operation since 1999. KFOR’s mission is to prevent hostilities between different ethnicities. KFOR cooperates with local authorities and other international organisations operating in the area to improve the national organisations and structures in Kosovo.
