Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki was on a visit to Türkiye from September 7 to 9, 2026, at the invitation of Commander of the Land Forces of Türkiye, General Metin Tokel. During the visit, the commanders discussed co-operation between the land forces of Finland and Türkiye, and agreed on actionable next steps.

Finnish Army Commander Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki attended the Land Corps Commanders’ (LC3) Conference organized by NATO Allied Land Command in Izmir, Türkiye on 9–11 September 2026. Lieutenant General Välimäki participated in the conference in his capacity as Commander of NATO Multi-Corps Land Component Command North West (MCLCC NW).

The Finnish Defence Forces will procure up to more than hundred vehicle-fitted and -mounted mortar systems from Patria Land. Modular and mobile, the new 120mm mortar M3 weapon system will improve force mobility, protection, and fire delivery capability over a wide area.

The new Commander of the Swedish Army, Major General Johan Pekkari, visited Finland as the guest of the Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki.
