Nordic Logistics Schools gathered in Denmark

The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command’s Logistics School participated in the Nordic Logistic School meeting held at Aalborg Barracks in Denmark in October. The event brought together logistics experts from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark to exchange experiences and develop new solutions to strengthen the Nordic countries’ ability to support military operations in the region.
The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command (FDFLOGCOM) is responsible for the procurement of materiel for the Defence Forces and for ensuring the readiness of troops, personnel, and systems. Its core mission is to secure the efficient use of Defence Forces capabilities and the successful execution of operations under all conditions. The Logistics School, subordinate to the FDFLOGCOM Headquarters, provides logistics education and research, produces manuals and guidance materials for logistics and sustainment, and conducts operational and tactical-level research to develop the Defence Forces logistics system.
Nordic cooperation in logistics is of key importance to Finland. The Logistics School and the Logistics Command develop capabilities together with partners to ensure that both national and Allied forces receive effective support and expertise in all situations. This objective was further strengthened during the meeting in Denmark, where participants focused on emerging technologies and shared operational models.
One of the opening presentations addressed the use of drones. Participating nations shared their experiences on the application of unmanned systems in logistics and discussed future opportunities in this field. Overall, the meeting highlighted a strong sense of mutual understanding and laid a solid foundation for developing common solutions.
Looking ahead, the Logistics Command’s goal is to be more comprehensive, responsive, and resilient in the Nordic region. The Command annually supports dozens of international exercises and is responsible for logistics arrangements and services, facility management, catering, health services, and environmental matters. Nordic cooperation reinforces the Command’s core values of cooperation, impact, and responsibility – and embodies its enabling attitude in everything it does.
