Reccex 23

The Pori Brigade will lead the joint Nordic CBRN reconnaissance exercise Reccex 23 in the region of southwestern and southern Finland during 28.8.–8.9.2023. The training audience strength of up to c. 220 personnel will mainly comprise reservists and service personnel.

The exercise will be participated by troops from the Pori Brigade’s CBRN Detachment, Karelia Brigade and from the Karelia Brigade’s IEDD Detachment, as well as by service personnel from the Army Academy, Air Force Academy, and from the Defence Command subordinated agencies. The participating inter-agency authorities will include the Police, Rescue Department, Finnish Border Guard, Customs, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority, and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. The participating international troops will be from Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Held since 2009, the Nordic Reccex training exercises have always been participated by Finland which previously led the exercise back in 2017.

Reccex 23 to end on Friday

The CBRN reconnaissance exercise Reccex 23 will end on Friday 8 September as the exercise-participating reservists are mustered out and Nordic troops start their return marches. The two-week exercise focused on preventing and containing chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) threats in an international framework.

Joint exercising – shared objective

The Reccex 23 -participating training audience troops convened at Huovinrinne of Säkylä during 25–27 August. The successful motorised marches of the international units completed and Finnish reservists’ reception and equipping done, it was time to start training joint operating among the total strength of the training audience.
