Danish helicopter detachment to rehearse in Finland

The Royal Danish Air Force’s helicopter detachment will participate in training exercise activity of the Utti Jaeger Regiment’s Helicopter Battalion during 9 – 16 May 2025.

The Royal Danish Air Force’s helicopter detachment comprises three Fennec AS550 C2 helicopters and their crews. 

Helicopter flight activity will be conducted on land and sea areas across South-Eastern and Southern Finland, including the capital city area.

International helicopter activity at Army exercises

Helicopter activity relating to Army’s other training exercise activity will be conducted across Finland until early June.

Training exercise activity will be participated by AH-64E Apache and AW159 Wildcat helicopters from the British Armed Forces. Helicopter flight activity will be part of the Army’s comprehensive exercising in the Kainuu Brigade-, Karelia Brigade-, Armoured Brigade-, and Air Force Academy -led exercises. 

While in Finland, the British Armed Forces’ helicopters will be supported, among other, by the Utti Jaeger Regiment at Utti, Kouvola. There will be flight activity at all times of the day and noise disturbance is possible. 

As part of the Army exercises this spring, Finland will operate NH90 and MD500 helicopter equipment.

Additionally, the Air Force will support the exercises by flight activity of F/A-18 Hornet fighters, Hawk jet trainers, as well as transport and liaison aircraft.
