Servicing, supplies, and overall logistics in a major exercise drill cover an entity that include, among others, distribution of food, water, ammunition and fuel, as well as servicing of vehicles, and medical services available for training audience troops. In the photo conscripts of Jaeger Brigade having a meal in the field.

- While distributing foodstuffs, it’s important to see to it that all units receive a correct amount of food, Lightning Strike 22 LIST22 Chief of Logistics, Captain Jukka Martikainen from the Army Academy says.

Captain Martikainen coordinates the exercise’s logistics services whose implementation remains the responsibility of the logistics units of the Jaeger Brigade and Pori Brigade.

As part of this logistics terminal operating activity, necessary supply items are being received and forwarded as applicable. In an up to 3,300-personnel-strong exercise such as LIST22, mastering this processing of items asks for competent personnel. Special diet requirements are also considered.

- The special diet most frequently followed is a gluten-free one. For the most part, the foodstuffs are lactose-free, CH LOG Martikainen explains.

Meatless options will have soy as their protein source.

- Every day at least one of the meals served will be a warm dish also in the field. In the morning, there is usually oatmeal, whereas the dinner may involve a warm stew. And a range of snacks from chocolate to nuts to black liquorice will be available too.
