29.6.2026 | The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki attended the RUSI Land Warfare Conference 2026 (LWC) held in London, and visited the Headquarters of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) in Gloucester. 28.3.2026 | Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki was on a working visit to Ukraine last week. The visit focused on the areas of Kiev, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. During the visit, Lieutenant General Välimäki met leadership of the Ukrainian Army, and took note of the operating of the land forces as well as command echelons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and new capabilities. Additionally, the visit provided the opportunity to familiarise with defence industry in Ukraine.

22.12.2025 | The next contingent of conscripts will begin their military service on Monday, 5 January, 2026. Approximately 9500 conscripts will start their service in the Army brigade-level units.

31.3.2025 | The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, visited Ukraine last week. During the visit, he met with the leadership of the Ukrainian Land Forces and learned about their training programs, facilities, and the command and control structures at various levels.

10.4.2025 | The Armoured Brigade will lead the Army mechanized exercise Mighty Arrow 25 at the Pohjankangas Firing Range and Training Area in Niinisalo from 24 April to 13 May. Approximately 2800 persons will take part in the exercise, most of them conscripts and about 700 international troops.

10.2.2025 | The Army will organise the local defence exercises during 18.2.–7.3. this spring. From the Defence Forces, the altogether six local defence exercises will be participated by up to c. 3,000 conscripts, reservists, and service personnel, as well as more than 400 vehicles in total. As is characteristic for local defence exercises, the training audience will also include a significant number of other authorities and business sector stakeholders.

31.5.2024 | The international combat exercise held in Rovajärvi brought together nearly 6,500 soldiers from Finland, the United States, and Norway, as well as staff personnel from Sweden. The main objective of the exercise was to enhance the interoperability of the participating nations' ground forces in the challenging terrain conditions of Northern Finland.

15.2.2024 | The Army will organize this spring’s local defence exercises from 1 to 8 March. Conscripts, reservists, Defence Forces salaried personnel and a considerable number of representatives of other authorities will take part in the exercises.
