The UK’s contingent in Finland includes two AH-64E Apache attack helicopter detachments and one AW159 Wildcat helicopter detachment.

  12. 3.11.2025 | The Finnish Defence Forces will celebrate the 108th Independence Day of Finland by way of a national parade on 6 December in Kouvola. The theme of the parade is We defend Finland together. The review of troops will take place at Kouvola Finnish baseball stadium, and the pass in review on Salpausselänkatu. The Finnish Defence Forces’ and other agencies’ equipment and activity will be available for familiarisation at Sumulaakso. The events are free of charge.

  17. 8.5.2025 | On Commemoration Day of Fallen Soldiers on Sunday 18 May, a national military funeral with full honours will be held in Lappeenranta for 26 unidentified Finnish soldiers recovered from former battle sites in Russia. The event will be arranged in co-operation by the Finnish Defence Forces, City of Lappeenranta, Evangelical Lutheran Parishes’ Union in Lappeenranta, and Association for Commemoration of the Fallen.

  19. 31.10.2023 | The army's mechanized exercise Hammer 23 has begun with the main forces moving to Pohjankangas between Sunday and Monday. The co-operation between practicing troops will be the key element in the combat phase which begins on Wednesday 1st of November. The exercise starts by unit’s independent training phase where each unit practices independently for the last time before the combat phase begins. It’s important to practice every last detail in this phase so every unit is in its full potential.

  20. 19.10.2023 | The Army mechanized exercise Hammer 23 will be organized at the Pohjankangas shooting and training area in Niinisalo from 27 October to 7 November 2023. The exercise enhances the rapid execution capability of the battle group and battalion, cooperation between the branches, provision of host nation support as well as cooperation with Allies. Approximately 2600 soldiers, over half of them reservists, will participate in the exercise led by the Armoured Brigade.
