
Army Academy - Army's service school
The Army Academy is the army's service school. Its main tasks are training salaried personnel and conscripts, Army research and development, and readiness duties. With these main tasks the Army Academy provides capabilities for the Finnish Defence Forces and especially to the Army.
The Army Academy operates in five localities: Lappeenranta, Hamina, Hattula, Kankaanpää and Riihimäki. Approximately 600 personnel work in the Army Academy. The Commandant of the Army Academy and Lappeenranta-Hamina Garrison is Colonel Kari Pietiläinen.
