19.9.2025 | ROVANIEMI, Finland - Commanders from across NATO’s respective army corps headquarters and land forces met here September 15-16 to discuss plans to experiment and field new technologies critical to establishing ground deterrence and providing ready land forces to the Alliance.

17.6.2026 | Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, met the Commanding General of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Northern Army, Lieutenant General Kazutomo Idogawa, in Helsinki on 12 June 2026.

28.3.2026 | Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki was on a working visit to Ukraine last week. The visit focused on the areas of Kiev, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. During the visit, Lieutenant General Välimäki met leadership of the Ukrainian Army, and took note of the operating of the land forces as well as command echelons of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and new capabilities. Additionally, the visit provided the opportunity to familiarise with defence industry in Ukraine.

21.5.2026 | The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki met the Commander of the French Land Forces, Lieutenant General Philippe de Montenon in Helsinki on 18 May 2026.

17.4.2026 | The Commander of the Finnish Army and Multi-Corps Land Component Command Northwest (MCLCC-NW), Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki hosted a working meeting held by the Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) of NATO at Mikkeli during 15.-16.4.2026.

17.2.2026 | Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki participated the working meeting of NATO commanders held in Norfolk during 10-12 February 2026. The commanders discussed at their meeting, among other, Arctic Sentry and topical operational issues.

2.3.2026 | The Commander of the Finnish Army met the Chief of the German Army, and familiarised with the operating of the Jaeger Battalion 91 in Rotenburg during his visit. The Commander also attended the Finnentag celebration marking this year the 111th anniversary since the start of Finnish Jaeger training at Hohenlockstedt.

2.10.2025 | On 16 September 2025, Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSEL) of NATO member nations’ land forces familiarised with conscript training of the Army at the Jaeger Brigade during the NATO Land Command conference (LC3).

22.9.2025 | Deputy Commander of NATO Joint Force Command Norfolk, Vice Admiral James Morley, and Chief of the Norwegian Army, Major General Lars Lervik visited Finland during 15—17 September 2025. The visit was hosted at the Army Command by Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki.

5.9.2025 | The Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello carried out a visit to Finland during 2–4 September 2025, hosted by Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki. The objective of the visit was to deepen co-operation between the Finnish and Italian Armies as well as to familiarise Lieutenant General Masiello with activity of the Finnish Army.

31.3.2025 | The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, visited Ukraine last week. During the visit, he met with the leadership of the Ukrainian Land Forces and learned about their training programs, facilities, and the command and control structures at various levels.

3.4.2025 | The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, visited France this week. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the French Army, General Pierre Schill. The commanders discussed various topics, including the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping operation, the ongoing situation in Ukraine, and FLF in Finland.

7.3.2025 | The Commanding General of the Estonian Division, Major General Indrek Sirel, visited the Finnish Army Headquarters on March 5–6, 2025. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki.

NATO’s Multi-Corps Land Component Command (MCLCC) became operational at Mikkeli in conjunction with the Army Command on 1 September 2025, and the opening ceremony was held on 3 October 2025.

28.8.2023 | The Reccex 23 -participating training audience troops convened at Huovinrinne of Säkylä during 25–27 August. The successful motorised marches of the international units completed and Finnish reservists’ reception and equipping done, it was time to start training joint operating among the total strength of the training audience.
