17.4.2026 | The Armoured Brigade will lead the Army mechanised exercise Mighty Arrow 26 at the Pohjankangas Firing Range and Training Area in Niinisalo from 24 April to 9 May. Approximately 2800 persons will participate in the exercise, most of them conscripts and about 350 international troops. Almost 500 vehicles will be used in the exercise, including approximately 160 tanks and armoured vehicles.

2.10.2025 | On 16 September 2025, Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSEL) of NATO member nations’ land forces familiarised with conscript training of the Army at the Jaeger Brigade during the NATO Land Command conference (LC3).

10.4.2025 | The Armoured Brigade will lead the Army mechanized exercise Mighty Arrow 25 at the Pohjankangas Firing Range and Training Area in Niinisalo from 24 April to 13 May. Approximately 2800 persons will take part in the exercise, most of them conscripts and about 700 international troops.

19.3.2025 | Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki was on a working visit to Italy on 11-14 March 2025. During the visit, Lieutenant General Välimäki familiarised with air defence systems of the Italian Army at the Anti-aircraft Artillery Command Sabaudia, and was briefed by the 17th Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment "Sforzesca" on the most recent technological developments concerning, among other, CUAS.

30.1.2026 | Utti Jaeger Regiment will train in Northern Finland from 2 February to 27 March 2026. The exercise series will involve about 1,000 soldiers in total from the Finnish Defence Forces and the Allied countries.

17.2.2026 | Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki participated the working meeting of NATO commanders held in Norfolk during 10-12 February 2026. The commanders discussed at their meeting, among other, Arctic Sentry and topical operational issues.

2.3.2026 | The Commander of the Finnish Army met the Chief of the German Army, and familiarised with the operating of the Jaeger Battalion 91 in Rotenburg during his visit. The Commander also attended the Finnentag celebration marking this year the 111th anniversary since the start of Finnish Jaeger training at Hohenlockstedt.

9.4.2025 | The training exercise entity of the Army will start at the end of April to continue until early June in all of Finland. The exercises will strengthen the alliance’s ability for joint operating, build-up of combat power, and its concentration across Finland.

16.7.2024 | At the Jaeger Brigade, survival skills will be trained on the SERE instructors’ course during 17.–30.8.2024. The course will be attended by soldiers from Finland, Germany, Spain, Belgium and Great Britain.

22.2.2024 | The Finnish Defence Forces will participate in the Norwegian-led exercise Nordic Response 24 to be held in northern areas of Finland, Norway, and Sweden during 4–15 March 2024. Nordic Response 24 will mark the Army’s and the Finnish Defence Forces’ most substantial participation in a multinational exercise abroad. The strength of the Army training audience will be c. 2,500 personnel of whom 350 are service personnel, 1,060 conscripts, and 1,120 reservists.

9.10.2023 | Considered also as the European military sniping championship, the European Best Sniper Team Competition is a demanding competition intended for snipers of the Alliance and its partner nations that aims to test and develop military snipers’ professional competence. Participated by 45 military sniper teams from 25 nations, the competition was won by Finland, the most recent NATO member nation.

7.3.2024 | Part of the main battles of the military exercise that is part of NATO’s Steadfast Defender 24 series take place in the Hetta and Kivilompolo road area from March 7 to March 9. The battles will have an effect on the traffic in the region.

10.2.2025 | The Army will organise the local defence exercises during 18.2.–7.3. this spring. From the Defence Forces, the altogether six local defence exercises will be participated by up to c. 3,000 conscripts, reservists, and service personnel, as well as more than 400 vehicles in total. As is characteristic for local defence exercises, the training audience will also include a significant number of other authorities and business sector stakeholders.

4.5.2023 | At the Rovajärvi range and training exercise area the Army Academy will lead the exercise Lightning Strike 23 during 15.–26.5.2023, and the exercise Northern Forest 23 during 27.5.–2.6.2023. The exercises will develop joint fires and combat operating with forces of the alliance and Sweden, as well as the ability for providing and receiving international assistance.

16.4.2024 | Army training and exercise activity will be conducted across Finland between the end of April and the beginning of June. The Army will be training in extensive force entities and developing the capacity for bilateral and multilateral joint operations with the Allies.

19.4.2023 | The Army will exercise across Finland and abroad during May-June. The objective of the exercises involves further developing Army interoperability and interoperable operating with forces of the alliance and with Sweden.
