12.2.2026 | The Army will exercise local defence during 20.2.–6.3.2026. The series of exercises will be participated by altogether up to c. 3,500 soldiers, a number of other authorities, as well as business sector organisations from across Finland.

10.11.2025 | The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation between the two nations’ Armies, and to identify opportunities for deepening cooperating.

10.4.2025 | The Armoured Brigade will lead the Army mechanized exercise Mighty Arrow 25 at the Pohjankangas Firing Range and Training Area in Niinisalo from 24 April to 13 May. Approximately 2800 persons will take part in the exercise, most of them conscripts and about 700 international troops.

20.11.2023 | The Finnish Defence Forces supports the Border Guard in securing the border situation by establishing executive assistance detachments to assist personnel in the construction of public order barriers. In addition, the Finnish Defence Forces provide material support. The task of the executive assistance departments began on Sunday 19 November 2023. The detachments consist of personnel and conscripts from the Army's brigade-level units.

1.6.2023 | The combat phase of the exercise Northern Forest 23 will end on Thursday and the troops will head back to their respective garrisons.

4.5.2023 | At the Rovajärvi range and training exercise area the Army Academy will lead the exercise Lightning Strike 23 during 15.–26.5.2023, and the exercise Northern Forest 23 during 27.5.–2.6.2023. The exercises will develop joint fires and combat operating with forces of the alliance and Sweden, as well as the ability for providing and receiving international assistance.

28.8.2017 | Local defence exercises led by the Army brigade-level units will be arranged from 4 - 8 September 2017 in Kainuu, the area of South-East Finland and Satakunta.

5.5.2025 | The Kainuu Brigade will lead Northern Strike 125, a live-fire exercise, and Northern Star 25, a combat exercise, at Rovajärvi during 12-31 May 2025. In total, the exercises will be participated by up to c. 6,500 personnel of whom 900 will be from Sweden and 350 from the UK.

26.5.2017 | EOD training is one of six training branches at the Karelia Brigade. In the defence reform of 2015, EOD training was centralised in Vekaranjärvi. An EOD Company, which is a relatively compact and functional unit, was established within the Kymi Engineer Battalion. Also the training sites were modernised when the training was started.

11.7.2017 | The mission of Resolute Support (RS) remains the same: train, advice and assist the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces to enhance security of the nation. Total of 39 nations have committed to the beginning of the new four-year period.
