Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces to Norway

The Commander of the Armed Forces will travel to Norway 11 – 12.8.2022 for a meeting between the Nordic chiefs defence and chiefs of armaments and logistics.

This year's meeting will be hosted by General Eirik Kristoffersen, Commander of the Norwegian Armed Forces. Norway is Chair Nation of the Nordic Defence Cooperation (NORDEFCO) in 2022. The Commander of the Defence Forces, General Timo Kivinen, will participate in the meeting together with Tarja Jaakkola, Director of the Materiel Unit of the Resources Policy Department of the Ministry of Defence.

The change in the security environment in Europe has increased Nordic co-operation. Joint Nordic defence cooperation will be further deepened with the NATO membership of Finland and Sweden.  The meeting will discuss the possibilities of developing co-operation and, among other things, how Nordic defence cooperation can increase security in our immediate region.
