The President of the Republic of Finland has promoted Colonel Mikael Salo to the position of Brigadier General as of 1 January 2025.
Brigadier General Salo will start as Assistant Chief of Staff J7 at NATO's Joint Command in Norfolk (JFCNF) on the same day. Previously, he has served as Head of the Reserve Officer School, Commander of the Crisis Management Force in Iraq and Special Adviser to the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces. He was promoted to colonel on 4 June 2021.
