Flight activities on the Flag Day of the Finnish Defence Forces

The Finnish Defence Forces' Flag Day on 4 June in Kuopio features events from morning until evening. The flight activities included in the programme will cause noise, especially in the city centre and harbour area of Kuopio.

Summary of flight activities in Kuopio on 4 June 2025

The flypast will start with four Finnish F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets from the Karelia Air Wing. They will be followed by aircraft from Nordic allied nations: two Royal Norwegian Air Force F-35A Lightning II fighter jets and two Swedish Air Force JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets. The final formation of the flypast will consist of four Finnish Hawk jet trainers from the Air Force Academy.

The flypast will be flown at an altitude of approximately 300 metres, approaching from the south along the direction of Satamakatu.

The marching detachments on foot will follow the flypast, after which the Finnish Army's MD500 helicopters and NH90 transport helicopters will be seen. The parade will conclude with motorised detachments.

Flypasts in other cities on 4 June 2025 

Fighter Squadron 11 of the Lapland Air Wing will conduct a flypast with one F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet over the Air Defence Monument at the Rovaniemi garrison at 08:05 on 4 June.

Satakunta Air Wing will conduct a flypast with one F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet over the Kalevankangas Cemetery in connection with a wreath-laying ceremony at 12:00.
