Nordic Military Working Dog Course 29 May- 9 June 2017 in Pori Brigade
Pori Brigade is hosting the NORDEFCO Military Working Dog Course for dog handlers in Säkylä 29 May- 9 June 2017.
Over 30 persons and 17 military working dogs are participating on the course. The participants come from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria and France.
The course topics include establishing a multinational Military Working Dog unit for an international operation, its operations and training. The goal of the course is to coordinate and streamline the standard operating procedures, and techniques and tactics of the handlers from the different countries.
The first phase of the course will be done as event stages in the training areas of Pori Brigade in Säkylä. The second phase of the course 5-8 June 2017 will include a field training exercise in the areas around Raasi, Pansio and Turku. The course and exercise will be led by the Commander of the Pohjanmaa Jaeger Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Mikko Saarelainen.
