The exercise Karelian Lock 23 ends and the forces start their return marches
The Karelia Brigade -led exercise Karelian Lock 23 was participated by units from several brigade-level units of the Army.
The training audience personnel and military equipment will return to their home garrisons at Säkylä, Niinisalo, Parolannummi, and Hamina by road and rail mainly on Friday 2 June. Some units will start their return marches already on the afternoon of 1 June. The FTX Karelian Lock 23 was participated by altogether c. 7,000 personnel and c. 1,500 vehicles. The return marches will be visible, among others, on the main roads 3, 6 10, 12, and 15. The motorised detachments’ marching speed will be 80–100 km/h.
Other road users are asked to consider the possible congestion resulting from the Finnish Defence Forces’ motorised detachments while the troops are on the move.
The exercise Karelian Lock 23 -participating U.S. Army forces will return to their base in Lithuania during 8.–14.6.2023.
Tanks from the Armoured Brigade will be transported by road from Merve, Hattula, to Parolannummi
Tanks from the Armoured Brigade that participated in Karelian Lock 23 will be transported by rails from Vekaranjärvi to Hattula on 2.6. The tanks will be transported by road from Merve, Hattula, to Parolannummi on 2.6. at 19.00–21.00, and be on the move on route Onnitie - Rannikontie - Merventie - Teollisuustie - Hattulantie - Parolannummentie 341.
The Armoured Brigade will control traffic at the intersections of
- Teollisuustie and Merventie
- Hattulantie and Teollisuustie
- Parolannummentie and Hattulantie (Armour Museum)
- Parolannummentie 341 (Parolannummi health track)
The above listed intersections will be closed off from other traffic at 19.00–21.00 periodically, which may result in occasional congestion while on the road.
