Today, on March 11, 2024, at approximately 15:40 Finnish time, a traffic accident occurred during the Nordic Response 24 exercise, involving two vehicles participating in the exercise.
The other car involved in the accident carried three members of the personnel of the Finnish Defense Forces, while the other vehicle carried two Swedish soldiers.
The accident took place on the road E45, about 5 kilometers from the Kivilompolo border crossing point to Norway. All the Finnish individuals involved in the accident were taken to the field hospital for examination, and one of them was transported to the hospital for further examination. One Swedish individual was examined at the field hospital but did not require further treatment. The individuals have been able to contact their families. Both vehicles involved in the collision suffered surface damages and were towed away from the scene.
