Air combat training with the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 2025

The Finnish Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force conduct training missions in Finnish airspace in October 2025.
The Royal Canadian Air Force participates in TARASSIS, a series of military activities of the United Kingdom-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF). The series involves exercise activity across the Nordic and Baltic countries and the Baltic Sea region in September and October 2025. The Canadian CF-188 Hornet fighter jets and CC-130HT air-to-air refueller operate from Ämari Air Base in Estonia.
The Finnish Air Force conducts training missions with the Canadians as part of the TARASSIS exercise series. The aim is to increase the readiness to conduct defensive counter-air operations together with Allies.
The missions involve Finnish F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets from Karelia Air Wing, and Canadian CF-188 Hornet fighter jets from Ämari Air Base in Estonia. A Canadian CC-130HT Hercules air-to-air refueller supports the jets.
The training missions are conducted as part of the Finnish Air Force’s daily flight operations in Finnish airspace in October 2025. The first missions were flown on 8‒9 October, and the activity will continue from 14 to 16 October 2025.
