The Commander of NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) visited Finland to deepen military cooperation
The Commander of NATO’s Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC), Lieutenant General Ralph Wooddisse, visited Finland on 30 January 2025. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki. The ARRC is based in the UK and provides the framework for one of NATO’s Strategic Reserve Corps.
This is the latest in a series of visits which underlines the growing levels of military cooperation between the UK and Finland. The ARRC and the Finnish Army Command have been working closely in rapidly developing a Multi Corps Land Component Command (MCLCC) in Finland. This is yet another step in the integration of Finland into all structures of NATO command and provides a strong statement of Finland's commitment to the alliance.
The ARRC is quickly developing its understanding of operating in and with Finland. In 2025 there will be further deployments of British forces to exercise alongside the Finnish Army and other NATO allies. From March to June, interoperable operating continues to be developed as the exercises held in Finland will be participated by elements of the 1st Aviation Brigade Combat Team from the UK.
