6.7.2026 | An international naval mines cooperation (NMC) project concerning the common procurement of naval mines has advanced to the framework agreement phase. As a representative of the lead nation, the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command has signed a contract in 25.6. with the Finnish company Forcit, on procuring the Blocker Influence Mine for the participating countries. So far Finland, Germany, Denmark, Lithuania and Norway have joined the project.

30.6.2026 | The Multi-Corps Land Component Command North West (MCLCC-NW) now includes two staff officers from the United Kingdom.

NATO’s Multi-Corps Land Component Command (MCLCC) became operational at Mikkeli in conjunction with the Army Command on 1 September 2025, and the opening ceremony was held on 3 October 2025.

7.7.2026 | Finland has acceded to the Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) capability programme. The accession gives Finland access to flight hours with Airbus A330 MRTT multirole aircraft and strengthens Finland’s contribution to the development of NATO’s shared capabilities in aerial refuelling, strategic airlift and medical evacuation.

17.8.2023 | The multinational training exercise will be held in the region of southwestern and southern Finland during 27.8.-8.9.2023. The exercise will be participated by troops from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.

22.12.2023 | The Army multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) fleet will be upgraded to a new version. The upgrade ensures long-range MLRS fires capacity also in the future.

8.11.2017 | The common Nordic RECCEX 17 CBRN exercise is held 17-24 November 2017 in Pirkanmaa, Satakunta and Southwest Finland. The exercise improves the readiness of the Finnish Defence Forces and the authorities to respond to situations involving hazardous materials. The exercise will be led by Pori Brigade.

23.11.2017 | The Nordic Reccex 17 CBRN Exercise will come to a close on November 24. The aim of the exercise was to enhance the abilities of Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian and Danish CBRN specialists to react against CBRN threats. The commander of the exercise, Lieutenant Colonel Tero Savonen says that the exercise has produces valuable knowledge on the challenges of leading multinational troops.

5.6.2017 | The Finnish Defence Forces will host the International Military Sports Council’s (CISM) 50th World Military Orienteering Championship from 10-16 June in the town and municipality of Hamina. In this jubilee event, the competition programme features competitions in Middle distance and Long distance, a Team race, as well as Relay.

24.4.2017 | Exercise Arrow 17, led by the Finnish Army’s Armoured Brigade, will take place in Pohjankangas, Niinisalo, Finland, from 2 to 13 May 2017. The objective of the exercise is to enhance interoperability and capability of mechanized units in offensive combat.
