Finnish Defence Forces exercising in Tampere and in the vicinity

The Utti Jaeger Regiment’s ongoing exercise Southern Griffin 23 will be visible this week in the region of Pirkanmaa. Part of the exercise drilling will involve helicopter flight activity.

During 15. – 20.5.2023, TREX activity will take place in Tampere and its vicinity in an area delineated by the points of Tottijärvi, Huhkaankylä, Orivesi, and Sappee. 

Soldiers will be exercising on sites whose use has been agreed beforehand. TREX activity will be conducted on a 24-hour basis, also in built-up suburban areas.

The exercise’s flight activity as well as the blank drilling munition used for training purposes may cause noise disturbance.

Southern Griffin 23 is an international exercise that is participated by the Finnish Defence Forces’ service personnel, agencies’ representatives, as well as international partners from the U.S.A. and Europe, altogether c. 1,150 personnel in total. Southern Griffin 23 will run until 21 May and involve flight equipment from Finland, France, and the U.S.A.
