Readiness units, local units and thousands of Allied troops to operate across Finland in the Army’s first exercises of the year
The Finnish Army will carry out exercises, involving conscripts and Allied troops, in various locations in Finland in February-March. The series of exercises will culminate in Exercise Cold Response 26, which will be organised in Rovajärvi in March and involve about 3,500 Finnish soldiers and 4,000 Allied troops.

The Defence Forces starts measures for acquiring anti-personnel landmines and launching training
Finland’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Anti-Personnel Landmines Convention took effect on 10 January. The Defence Forces will start measures for acquiring anti-personnel landmines and providing the Defence Forces personnel, conscripts and reservists with anti-personnel landmine training.

Record number of applicants for special forces training in Utti Jaeger Regiment - selection tests in January
This Autumn, special forces training in Utti Jaeger Regiment attracted more applicants than ever. The selection tests for those applying for paratrooper training and those applying to train as a contractual military personnel on the Defence Forces special forces course will be held on 19-23 January 2026.

Multi-Corps Land Component Command’s core staff element to include staff officer from the Netherlands
The Multi-Corps Land Component Command’s (MCLCC) core staff element now includes a staff officer from the Netherlands. The core staff element comprises 12 personnel from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the U.S.A., and the Netherlands.
