Wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery

The Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki, visited the United States at the end of April. The visit was hosted by the Commander of the United States Army, General Randy George. The official visit included military honours and the laying of a wreath at the Arlington Military Cemetery.

At Pentagon, the Commander of the Finnish Army discussed with General George, and the Army Command on the military situation in different regions, collaboration on transformation initiatives to adopt emerging technologies to increase operational effectiveness, and bilateral cooperation between the Finnish Army and the US Army.

At Fort Bragg, the Commander of the Finnish Army learnt about the US Army Forces Command, which is responsible for the training, equipping and rotating of the US Army Forces, discussed practical cooperations with XVIII Airborne Corps and became familiar with the Army Special Forces.

In Austin, the Commander of the Finnish Army was introduced to the US Army Futures Command, discussed the ways and means to improve the Army capabilities, and accelerate material procurement to match the speed of technological and warfare developments, and cooperation related to innovation activities.

- The cooperation with the Finnish and the US Army is active, natural and mutually beneficial, Lieutenant General Välimäki says.
