The Armoured Brigade will lead the Army mechanised exercise Mighty Arrow 26 at the Pohjankangas Firing Range and Training Area in Niinisalo from 24 April to 9 May. Approximately 2800 persons will participate in the exercise, most of them conscripts and about 350 international troops. Almost 500 vehicles will be used in the exercise, including approximately 160 tanks and armoured vehicles.
Personnel and conscripts from the Armoured Brigade, Utti Jaeger Regiment, Jaeger Brigade, Pori Brigade, Army Academy, Defence Forces Logistics Command and Air Force will take part in the exercise. Allied troops from Lithuania and Estonia will also participate in the exercise. The exercise will be commanded by the Commander of the Armoured Brigade Colonel Juhana Skyttä.
- We work on our interoperability with several different countries in all areas of national defence. Mighty Arrow 26 will strengthen in particular Allied mechanised units’ joint combat as well as joint operations with unmanned systems, Colonel Skyttä says.
The equipment of the international troops will include, among other things, CV9035 infantry fighting vehicles (Estonia) and BOXER armoured personnel carriers (Lithuania). Using drones has increased even more and this year, several different types of drones (incl. an FPV drone) will be used in the exercise by Finnish units and the Allies.
-The mechanised units are compatible with NATO. We have the same capabilities and share the same will. By operating together, we will constantly keep on learning and improving our skills, Col. Skyttä emphasises.
