Maavoimien komentaja kenraaliluutnantti Pasi Välimäki pitämässä luentoa Yhdysvaltain maanpuolustuskorkeakoulussa.

Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki visited the USA on 8-14 October.

Commander of the Finnish Army participated in the AUSA 2022 conference, the theme of which was the development of the army to meet the challenges of the 2030s. North America’s most extensive army event, the conference displays new technologies and systems as well as provides a venue for discussing army development prospects.

In conjunction with the conference, Commander of the Finnish Army participated together with the Nordic Army Commanders in a panel discussion convened by the Atlantic Council on Security Cooperation in the High North.  

On Wednesday 12 October, Lieutenant General Välimäki gave a lecture at the National Defence University in Washington, DC. The lecture was part of the prestigious Presidental Lecture series which has previously featured lectures by, among others, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, as well as Chief of Staff of the United States’ Army, General James McConville. The lecture given by Lieutenant General Välimäki was followed in situ and online by altogether nearly a thousand students of the NDU. 

On that occasion, Lieutenant General Välimäki was awarded by induction into the NDU’s International Fellows Hall of Fame. He studied at the National Defence University in the USA in 2016.
